Abiotic Factor: Connecting to and setting up your server

Here you'll learn how you and your fellow players connect to your Abiotic Factor server.

Connecting

1. Start the server on the server page with Start.
2. Wait until the status shows “running”. You can follow the progress in the Console tab.
3. In the game, connect via the multiplayer menu or direct connect using the address (IP:Port) at the top of your server page.
4. Enter the server password when the game asks for it.

Important settings

• Server name (SERVER_NAME) – the name the server is displayed under.
• Server password (SERVER_PASSWORD) – password for joining.
• Number of players (NUM_PLAYERS) – how many players may be connected at the same time.
• Automatic update (AUTO_UPDATE) – checks for updates on start.

Changes to the Startup variables take effect on the next restart.

Good to know

• The server password (SERVER_PASSWORD) is generated automatically by the portal during setup. It is shown once at the top of the server page – please make a note of it. You can change it in the Startup variables tab. Share it with your fellow players.
• On first start, the server downloads the game files. This can take a few minutes – please don't interrupt it.
