Arma Reforger: connect to and set up your server

Start your Arma Reforger server, find it in the game and set name, password, scenario, player count and admin access.

Here's how to connect to your Arma Reforger server and adjust the most important settings.

Connecting

  1. Open the server page in the client area and click Start.
  2. Wait until the status shows “running”. You can follow the progress in the Console tab.
  3. Copy the address (IP:Port) at the top of the server page.
  4. In Arma Reforger, open Multiplayer and search the server browser for your server name – or use Direct Join with the address. If the server has a password, enter it when joining.

Important settings

In the Startup variables tab:

  • Server Name (SERVER_NAME) – name in the server browser.
  • Server Password (SERVER_PASS) – password for joining; leave empty for an open server.
  • Admin Password (ADMIN_PASS) – for logging in as admin in the game.
  • Max Players (MAX_PLAYERS) – maximum number of players.
  • Scenario ID (SCENARIO_ID) – the scenario being played (default: Conflict/campaign). The server lists all valid IDs in the Console when it starts.
  • Visible in Server Browser (VISIBLE), Enable BattlEye (BATTLEYE), Disable Third Person (DISABLE_THIRD).

We write these values into the config.json file (Files tab) on start. Changes in the Startup variables tab take effect on the next restart.

Good to know

  • The portal generates the admin password automatically during setup. It is shown once at the top of the server page – please make a note of it. To change it: Startup variables tab (ADMIN_PASS). In the game, log in via chat with #login YourAdminPassword.
  • Add Workshop mods to config.json under game.mods. With Automatic Updates (AUTO_UPDATE) the server downloads game and mod updates itself on start.
  • The first start takes longer because the server files are downloaded and set up.
