Here's how to connect to your Astro Colony server and adjust the most important settings.

Connecting

  1. Open the server page in the client area and click Start.
  2. Wait until the status shows “running”. You can follow the progress in the Console tab.
  3. Copy the address (IP:Port) at the top of the server page.
  4. Launch Astro Colony and connect via the server list or directly with the address. Alternatively add the IP with the query port (Ports tab) in Steam under View → Game servers → Favourites.

Important settings

In the Startup variables tab:

  • Server Name (SERVER_NAME) – Change the server name.
  • Server Password (SERVER_PASSWORD) – Set the game password. Leave empty to make server public.
  • Max Players (SERVER_MAXPLAYERS) – Amount of max allowed players.
  • Map Seed (SERVER_MAPSEED) – Set the map seed.
  • Map Name (SERVER_MAPNAME) – Map name displayed in serverlist.
  • Autosave Interval (SERVER_AUTOSAVEINTERVAL) – Minutes between auto save (5.0 = 5 minutes).
  • Autosaves Count (SERVER_AUTOSAVESCOUNT) – How many auto save files to keep.

Changes in the Startup variables tab take effect on the next restart.

Good to know

  • The first start takes longer because the server files are downloaded and set up.
