Astroneer: Connecting to and setting up your server

How to connect to your Astroneer server and set the owner, password and public IP.

Here you'll learn how to set up your Astroneer server and connect to it.

Connecting

  1. Start the server on the server page with Start.
  2. Wait until the status shows “running”. You can follow the progress in the Console tab.
  3. In the game, connect via the server browser or by adding a dedicated server using the address (IP:Port) at the top of your server page.

Important settings

  • Server name (SERVER_NAME) – the displayed name.
  • Public IP (PUBLIC_IP) – the IP players connect through. Enter the IP from your server page here.
  • Owner name (OWNER_NAME) – your Steam username as the server owner.
  • Owner Steam ID (OWNER_GUID) – your Steam ID.
  • Server password (SERVER_PWD) – if set, players need this password.

You'll find further settings in the Files tab in Astro/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/AstroServerSettings.ini and Astro/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/Engine.ini.

Changes to the Startup variables take effect on the next restart.

Good to know

  • On first start, the server downloads the game files. This can take a few minutes – please don't interrupt it.
