Here you’ll learn how to connect to your Colony Survival server and change the most important settings.
Connecting
- Start the server on the server page with Start.
- Wait until the status shows “running”. You can follow the progress in the Console.
- In the game, connect via the multiplayer menu or direct connect using the address from the server page.
- The address (IP:Port) is shown at the top of your server page.
Important settings
You change these values in the Startup variables tab. Changes take effect on the next restart.
- Server name (
SERVER_NAME) – the name under which your server is shown. - World name (
WORLD_NAME) – the name of the world the server loads. A new name creates a new world. - Max. players (
MAX_PLAYERS) – how many players can play at the same time. - Automatic update (
AUTO_UPDATE) – updates the server on restart.
Good to know
- During setup, the server files are downloaded via Steam, so the first start may take a few minutes longer.
- Back up your world in the Backups tab before making bigger changes.
