Core Keeper: Connecting to and setting up your server

How to join your Core Keeper server via the Game ID and adjust the world, player count and mode.

2 minute read Updated 30.09.2026

Core Keeper connects players via a Game ID. Here you'll learn where to find it and which settings matter.

Connecting

  1. Start the server on the server page with Start.
  2. Wait until the status shows “running”. You can follow the progress in the Console tab.
  3. Find the Game ID: it appears in the Console tab after starting and is stored in the file GameID.txt in the Files tab.
  4. In the game, choose “Join game” and enter the Game ID.

Important settings

  • World name (WORLD_NAME) – the name of your server.
  • Game ID (GAME_ID) – fixed ID for the server (at least 28 characters, letters and numbers only, without Y, y, x, 0, O). Leave it empty and a new ID will be generated on start.
  • Max. players (MAX_PLAYERS) – at most 100.
  • World seed (WORLD_SEED) – seed for a new world; 0 = random.
  • World mode (WORLD_MODE) – 0 = normal, 1 = hard.
  • World index (WORLD_INDEX) – which world save is used.

Changes to the Startup variables take effect on the next restart.

Good to know

  • If Game ID is empty, the ID may change. Enter a fixed ID so your fellow players can always use the same one.
  • On first start, the server downloads the game files. This can take a few minutes – please don't interrupt it.
