DayZ: Adjusting stamina, base building and map (cfggameplay.json)

More stamina, your own position on the map, looser building rules – with cfggameplay.json, which has to be switched on first.

Many game rules in DayZ are set in the file cfggameplay.json: stamina, base building, the map and more. It's located at mpmissions/dayzOffline.chernarusplus/cfggameplay.json.

Important: switch it on first

Without this switch the server ignores the file. In the Files tab, open serverDZ.cfg and add this line at the end:

enableCfgGameplayFile = 1;

The line is kept across restarts.

Popular settings

Stop the server, open cfggameplay.json, change values, save, start the server.

Good to know

  • Commas and quotation marks must be exactly right. A single missing comma makes the file invalid – download it first so you have a backup.
  • Write decimal values with a dot (150.0, not 150,0).
  • Some settings like third person, crosshair or time acceleration are easier to set in the Startup variables tab – see Connecting and setting up a DayZ server.
