On our DayZ servers you need neither SFTP nor startup parameters for mods. Everything runs through the Mods tab on the server page.
Way 1: Individual mods from the Workshop
- Open the Mods tab. On the right you'll see popular mods.
- Search for a name – or paste a Workshop link or the mod ID.
- Click Add on the mod, then Save and restart the server.
On startup the server downloads the mods itself and sets up the keys (.bikey). Mods that another mod needs (e.g. CF – Community Framework) are added automatically when saving and placed before it in the load order.
More on load order and "server only" mods: Choosing mods from the Steam Workshop.
Way 2: Ready-made one-click packages
At the top of the Mods tab you'll find One-click packages. They set up not only the mods but also the mission:
- DayZ Expansion – traders, base building, vehicles and more, built into your Chernarus mission. Settings afterwards: DayZ Expansion: traders, market and settings.
- Namalsk and Deer Isle – a different map with the matching mission. Back to Chernarus: how it works.
Before installing we automatically create a backup if a backup slot is free. Details: One-click packages.
Way 3: Importing a mod list
Already put your mods together in the DayZ launcher? Export the list there as an HTML file, upload it under Files and enter the file name in the startup variables under Mod list (MOD_FILE).
What your players need
Players need the same mods. The easiest way is to join via the DZSA Launcher – it downloads missing mods by itself when joining. In the official DayZ launcher they subscribe to the mods in the Steam Workshop beforehand.
Good to know
- Making yourself admin: Easiest with an admin mod like Community Online Tools or VPPAdminTools from the Mods tab.
- Adjusting loot: The file
types.xmlin the mission folder (mpmissions/…/db/types.xml) controls what spawns where and how often. - If the server no longer starts after a mod change, this article helps.
- The server downloads new mod versions on every restart. An automatic restart at night keeps mods up to date – set up schedules.
