DayZ: connect to and set up your server

Start your DayZ server, connect via the launcher and set the name, password, player count and mods.

Here's how to connect to your DayZ server and adjust the most important settings.

Connecting

  1. Open the server page in the client area and click Start.
  2. Wait until the status shows “running”. You can follow the progress in the Console tab.
  3. Copy the address (IP:Port) at the top of the server page.
  4. Connect to this address via the server browser or direct connect in the DayZ Launcher.

Important settings

In the Startup variables tab:

  • Server name (SERVER_HOSTNAME) – name in the server list.
  • Server password (SERVER_PASSWORD) – password for joining; leave empty for an open server.
  • Max. players (MAX_PLAYERS) – maximum number of players.
  • Admin password (ADMIN_PASSWORD) – for logging in as administrator.
  • Mod list (MOD_FILE) – file name of a mod list exported from the DayZ Launcher (upload the HTML file in Files).

More settings are in serverDZ.cfg in the Files tab. Changes in the Startup variables tab take effect on the next restart.

Good to know

  • The portal generates the admin and RCON passwords automatically during setup. They are shown once at the top of the server page – please make a note of them. To change them: Startup variables tab (ADMIN_PASSWORD, RCON_PASSWORD).
  • The first start takes longer because the server files are downloaded and set up.
