Test a big modpack with more power

If your server is too small for a modpack, test it free for 2 hours with more memory and CPU – on your own server.

When it is offered

If you pick a big pack (e.g. All the Mods or Better MC) in the customer area under Modpacks and your server has less than the pack recommends, a window with three options appears:

  • Test 2 hours (free) – we back up your server, raise it to the recommended resources and install the pack.
  • Upgrade resources – book more RAM and cores permanently; the matching values are preselected.
  • Install anyway – with your current resources (may lag or crash).

This also works during a 24-hour test server.

How the test works

  1. Automatic backup of your server.
  2. More memory and cores for 2 hours. If there is no room at your server location, your server moves to a server with more room – you receive the new address by email.
  3. Installation of the pack. The 2 hours start once the pack is running.
  4. The remaining time is shown at the top of your server; 15 minutes before the end we remind you by email.

After the 2 hours

  • Keep resources: book the upgrade – the pack stays, your server keeps running with the new resources.
  • Restore backup: brings back the state before the installation (game progress from the test is lost).
  • Do nothing: we reset your server to its booked resources and briefly restart it. The pack stays installed but may lag.

Good to know

  • One test per server every 30 days.
  • On a 24-hour test server “keep with more power” applies: the payment request comes at the end of the performance test, until then you pay nothing.
  • Tip for big packs: pre-generate the world with Chunky after installation – then exploring won't lag.
