Here you’ll learn how to connect to your Ground Branch server and change the most important settings.
Connecting
- Start the server on the server page with Start.
- Wait until the status shows “running”. You can follow the progress in the Console.
- In the game, connect via the multiplayer menu or direct connect using the address from the server page.
- The address (IP:Port) is shown at the top of your server page.
Important settings
You change these values in the Startup variables tab. Changes take effect on the next restart.
- Server name (
SERVER_NAME) – the name in the server list. - Max. players (
MAX_PLAYERS) – how many players can join at the same time. - Automatic updates (
AUTO_UPDATE) – checks for updates on start (1 on, 0 off). - Validate files (
VALIDATE) –1checks and repairs all server files on start. This makes startup considerably longer, so only turn it on if you have problems.
More settings can be found in the Files tab in GroundBranch/ServerConfig/Server.ini, mod settings in GroundBranch/Config/DefaultModding.ini.
Good to know
- The server runs as the Windows version, so the first start takes a little longer.
- During setup, the server files are downloaded via Steam, so the first start may take a few minutes longer.
