Minecraft Bedrock: Connecting to and setting up your server

Here you’ll learn how to connect to your Minecraft Bedrock server and change the most important settings.

Connecting

1. Start the server on the server page with Start.
2. Wait until the status shows “running”. You can follow the progress in the Console.
3. In the game, open “Play” → “Servers” → “Add Server”.
4. Enter the IP and port from the server page into the two fields, save and join.

Important settings

You change these values in the Startup variables tab. Changes take effect on the next restart.

• Server name (SERVERNAME) – the name of your server.
• Game mode (GAMEMODE) – survival, creative or adventure.
• Difficulty (DIFFICULTY) – peaceful, easy, normal or hard.
• Allow cheats (CHEATS) – true allows commands such as cheats.
• Bedrock version (BEDROCK_VERSION) – the server version, the default is latest.

More settings can be found in the file server.properties in the Files tab.

Good to know

• The server and the game must have the same version. Keep your game up to date if the server is set to latest.
• The Installer is only available for Minecraft Java – not for Bedrock.
