Minecraft Installer: how it works

With the Installer you switch server software, install plugins and complete modpacks – with one click, no file uploads.

You'll find it on your server page in the Installer tab. It has three sections:

  • Server version – Vanilla, Paper, Purpur, Fabric, Forge or Mohist in the Minecraft version you want.
  • Plugins – from the SpigotMC directory, for Paper and Purpur.
  • Modpacks – from Modrinth and CurseForge, search and install with one click.

How to use it

  1. Choose a section and search.
  2. Leave the “Automatically create a backup first” box ticked.
  3. Click Install or Switch and confirm.

For modpacks an info line shows what is happening – e.g. “Loading 312 mods” or “Generating the world – 60 %”. You can close the page meanwhile.

What the Installer does for you

  • Backup of the previous state before anything is changed.
  • Matching Java version and the right mod loader are set automatically.
  • First start with check: mods that only work in the game client (e.g. graphics or map mods) are sorted out; missing libraries are downloaded.
  • Server too small? If a pack needs more memory than your server has, you get a choice: test free for 2 hours with more power, upgrade resources or install anyway.

If something goes wrong

  • A red message shows what went wrong. You can get the previous state back under Backups.
  • Some pack authors don't allow automatic downloads. The Installer tells you, and you upload the files yourself – or your own CurseForge profile as a ZIP via “Upload your own modpack (ZIP)”.
  • If you're stuck, send us a ticket – we'll take a look.
