You can install modpacks on your Minecraft server (Java Edition) with one click – no file uploads needed.
How it works
- Server page → Installer tab → Modpacks.
- Search for the name of the pack. Modpacks from Modrinth and CurseForge are shown. If your pack is missing, paste the CurseForge link or the project ID into the search field.
- Leave the Automatically create a backup first (recommended) box ticked.
- Click Install on your pack and confirm.
The installation takes a few minutes. You can see the progress at the top of the Installer page (reload the page). You can also close the window.
What we take care of
- Backup: With the box ticked, we first create a backup “Vor Modpack: …” and only install once it is finished.
- Loader and Java: We set Fabric, Quilt, Forge or NeoForge and the matching Java version automatically.
- Old mods: The mods of a previously installed pack are removed. Your world stays. If the pack ships its own files (e.g. settings), these may replace existing files.
- First start: We start the server and check whether all mods run. Mods that only work in the game client (e.g. graphics or map mods) are moved to the
mods-client-onlyfolder – up to 6 attempts. The green message afterwards lists which mods were moved.
Good to know
- Memory: Larger modpacks usually need 6–8 GB. Small packs often run with less. If the server crashes, more RAM helps – under Manage → Book more power.
- On CurseForge, only packs for which the author provides a server pack are available.
- The latest available version of the pack is installed. Your players need exactly this version – they'll find the matching download on your invite page.
- If the installation fails, you'll see a red message at the top. You can get the previous state back via Backups.
