Palworld: Moving your co-op or single-player world to your own server

Upload your Palworld world from your PC as a ZIP – we set it up automatically. Including a note on the host's character.

You've been playing Palworld in co-op or single-player mode and want to continue that world on your own server? It only takes a few steps – we take care of the setup automatically.

1. Find the world on your PC

Press Windows key + R, enter %localappdata%\Pal\Saved\SaveGames and press Enter.

Inside is a folder named after your Steam ID, and inside that one folder per world with a long name made of numbers and letters. The right folder contains, among other things, Level.sav, LevelMeta.sav and the Players folder.

The easiest way to tell which folder belongs to which world is the date modified – the world you played last is the newest.

2. Pack it as a ZIP

  1. Quit Palworld so everything is saved.
  2. Right-click the world folder (the folder containing Level.sav, not the Steam ID folder) → Send to → Compressed (zipped) folder.

Put only one world into the archive – we import the first world we find in it.

3. Upload it to the server

  1. Server page → Manage card → Import save.
  2. Under Upload archive, choose the ZIP file and click Upload and set up. Keep the window open until 100 % is reached.
  3. Under History you can follow the progress. The page refreshes itself.

We stop the server, create a backup “Vor Spielstand-Übernahme” if a backup slot is free, switch the server to your world and start it again. Once the history shows it as finished, you can join as usual – see Palworld: connect to and set up your server.

Important: the host's character

In co-op worlds, Palworld stores the host's character (whoever created the world) differently from the other players' characters. On a server, the host is just a normal player – so the old character is not carried over automatically, and the host usually starts with a new character.

  • Other players who joined the co-op world will usually find their characters again.
  • The world, bases and buildings are fully carried over.
  • This behaviour comes from Palworld itself. We import the files unchanged and don't rewrite any characters.

The same applies to single-player worlds: the world is there, your character starts fresh.

Good to know

  • The previous world on the server is not deleted. It stays on the server but is no longer loaded.
  • There must be enough free storage on the server (about twice the ZIP size). Otherwise book more storage first under Book more power.
  • Settings not taking effect? Co-op worlds often contain a WorldOption.sav file with their own world settings, which can take priority over PalWorldSettings.ini. If your changes don't apply, read Palworld settings or open a ticket.
  • On a trial server, Import save only appears once you keep the server.
  • Save from another host? See Import your save from your old host.
