Pavlov VR: connect to and set up your server

Start your Pavlov VR server with an API key, find it in the server list and set name, password, maps and RCON.

Here's how to connect to your Pavlov VR server and adjust the most important settings.

Connecting

  1. Open the server page in the client area and click Start.
  2. Wait until the status shows “running”. You can follow the progress in the Console tab.
  3. Copy the address (IP:Port) at the top of the server page.
  4. In Pavlov VR, search the server list for your server name and join. You mainly need the address for RCON tools.

Important settings

In the Startup variables tab:

  • Api key (API_KEY) – required so that the server appears in the server list. You enter it when ordering.
  • RCON Password (RCON_PASSWORD) – password for admin commands via RCON.
  • Auto-update server (AUTO_UPDATE) – updates the server on every restart.
  • Beta id (SRCDS_BETAID) – only fill in if you want to use a beta branch of the server.

Server name, player count, password and the map rotation are in the file Pavlov/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/Game.ini in the Files tab. Changes take effect on the next restart.

Good to know

  • You can get the API key for free at pavlov-ms.vankrupt.com/servers/v1/key. You can change it later under Startup variables (API_KEY).
  • The portal generates the RCON password automatically during setup. It is shown once at the top of the server page – please make a note of it. We set the RCON port; please don't change it.
  • The first start takes longer because the server files are downloaded and set up.
