In short: our standard is enough for the vast majority of game servers – including mods, plugins and many players. The Performance location is an extra for very large servers: it runs on a machine with particularly fast CPU cores.
What is different?
| Standard | Performance | |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | Server processors with many cores | AMD Ryzen 9 7900 – even more power per core |
| Memory, storage, backups | as booked | as booked |
| Features in the customer area | all | all |
| Location | Germany | Germany |
Many games calculate the game world mainly in one thread – for example Minecraft, ARK, DayZ or Rust. For very large servers, what matters most is how fast one core is. That is where Performance comes in.
Do I need Performance?
Usually not. Minecraft with plugins or modpacks, DayZ, Arma, ARK, Rust, Valheim & co. run well on Standard. If it lags, the cause is almost always something else – too little memory, too few cores, too large a view distance or individual mods. That can be fixed on Standard, see My server is lagging.
Performance pays off when your server is really big:
- very large communities with many players at the same time,
- huge modpacks (several hundred mods) or a very large number of mods/plugins combined,
- very large worlds where the server FPS or tick rate drops despite enough memory and cores.
Whether CPU or RAM is the bottleneck is shown by the history on the server page – learn more.
What does Performance cost?
The surcharge depends on the booked cores – because that is exactly what is faster with Performance: €2.50 per core per month.
| Example | Surcharge per month |
|---|---|
| 2 cores | + €5.00 |
| 4 cores | + €10.00 |
| 7 cores | + €17.50 |
Memory, storage and backups cost the same as on Standard. With a longer billing period, the period discount also applies to the surcharge.
How to choose Performance
When ordering, simply select Germany – Performance ⚡ under Server location. The price updates immediately.
Already have a server? Under Change resources you switch to Performance with one click – right away or overnight. You only pay the pro-rata surcharge until the end of your billing period; only after payment does your server move over with its world and files (usually 5–30 minutes). The IP address changes, the port stays the same. Backups do not move along, so download important backups beforehand.
Back to Standard? Works the same way under Change resources. The surcharge no longer applies from your next invoice; there is no refund for the current period.
To keep the cores really fast, we only offer a limited number of places on Performance.
Sold out? Waiting list
If Performance is currently sold out, this is shown right at the option. Click “Notify me when available” – we will write to you as soon as space is available again. As a thank-you you will then receive a voucher for 20 % off the first month of a Performance server (valid for 14 days).
