Here's how to connect to your Post Scriptum server and adjust the most important settings.

Connecting

  1. Open the server page in the client area and click Start.
  2. Wait until the status shows “running”. You can follow the progress in the Console tab.
  3. Copy the address (IP:Port) at the top of the server page.
  4. Launch Post Scriptum and connect via the server list or directly with the address. Alternatively add the IP with the query port (Ports tab) in Steam under View → Game servers → Favourites.

Important settings

In the Startup variables tab:

  • RCON Password (RCON_PASSWORD) – Password for RCON connections, leave empty to disable.
  • Server Name (hostname) – The name that will be displayed in the server browser list.
  • Max Players (maxplayers) – Sets the maximum number of players.
  • Allow Team Change (allowteamchange) – Allow players to change teams (true/false).
  • Advertise Server (advertise) – Display the server in the public server browser list (true/false).
  • Reserved Slots (reservedslots) – The number of reserved slots.
  • Prevent team change (team_change) – This will prevent players from changing teams when teams are not balanced (true/false).

Changes in the Startup variables tab take effect on the next restart.

Good to know

  • Passwords such as RCON_PASSWORD are generated automatically by the portal. They are shown once at the top of the server page – please note them down.
  • The first start takes longer because the server files are downloaded and set up.
