Here's how to connect to your Rust (Auto-Wipe) server and adjust the most important settings.

Connecting

  1. Open the server page in the client area and click Start.
  2. Wait until the status shows “running”. You can follow the progress in the Console tab.
  3. Copy the address (IP:Port) at the top of the server page.
  4. In Rust, open the console with F1 and enter client.connect IP:Port.

Important settings

In the Startup variables tab:

  • Max Players (MAX_PLAYERS) – The maximum amount of players allowed in the server at once.
  • Level (LEVEL) – The world file for Rust to use.
  • Description (DESCRIPTION) – The description under your server title. Commonly used for rules & info. Use \n for newlines.
  • URL (SERVER_URL) – The URL for your server. This is what comes up when clicking the "Visit Website" button.
  • World Size (WORLD_SIZE) – The world size for a procedural map.
  • World Seed (WORLD_SEED) – The seed for a procedural map.
  • Server Image (SERVER_IMG) – The header image for the top of your server listing.

Changes in the Startup variables tab take effect on the next restart.

Good to know

  • Passwords such as RCON_PASS are generated automatically by the portal. They are shown once at the top of the server page – please note them down.
  • The server is wiped automatically on schedule (new map) – see the startup variables for the settings.
  • The first start takes longer because the server files are downloaded and set up.
