A new Satisfactory server doesn't belong to anyone at first. Whoever connects first via the Server Manager claims it and sets the admin password.
Claiming the server
- Start the server on the server page and wait until it is "running".
- Open the Server Manager in Satisfactory's main menu and click Add Server.
- Enter the IP and port from the server page.
- Choose a server name and an admin password. Write the password down – you'll need it to manage the server later.
- Optional: set a player password so only your friends can join.
New game or your own save
New game: In the Server Manager, choose a starting area and name under Create Game.
Continue your own save:
- Your saves are on your PC under
%localappdata%\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames\– inside is a folder with a long number containing the.savfiles. (Press Windows key + R, paste the path, press Enter.) - In the Server Manager, open the Manage Saves tab and click Upload Save.
- Select the
.savfile and then load the save on the server.
Using the Server Manager is the easiest way – you don't need the Files tab for it.
Forgot the admin password?
- Stop the server.
- In the Files tab, delete the file
.config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/ServerSettings.7778.sav(the number is your server's port). - Start the server and claim it again.
Your saves are in a separate folder and are kept – still, create a backup beforehand to be safe.
Good to know
- Pausing: In the in-game server settings you decide whether the server pauses when nobody is online.
- Larger saves need more memory – guide values.
- Connecting and further settings: Connecting and setting up a Satisfactory server.
