Here's how to connect to your Subsistence server and adjust the most important settings.
Connecting
- Open the server page in the client area and click Start.
- Wait until the status shows “running”. You can follow the progress in the Console tab.
- Copy the address (IP:Port) at the top of the server page.
- Launch Subsistence and connect via the server list or directly with the address. Alternatively add the IP with the query port (Ports tab) in Steam under View → Game servers → Favourites.
Important settings
In the Startup variables tab:
- Admin Password (
ADMIN_PASSWORD) – Password used to log in as admin. Join with ?password=THIS_VALUE or start steam.<uid>?password=THIS_VALUE. - Base Decay Hours (
BASE_DECAY_HOURS) – Real-world hours a team must be offline before their base starts decaying. 0 disables decay. Example: 96 = 4 days. - Days Per Year (
DAYS_PER_YEAR) – In-game days per in-game year. Allowed: 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 90, 120, 200, 365. - Difficulty (
DIFFICULTY) – easy / normal / hardcore. - Enemy Base Item Access (
ENEMY_BASE_ACCESS) – If true, players can access enemy chests, refineries, etc. Does not affect doors/windows/hatches. - Hosted By (
HOSTED_BY) – Host label shown in the in-game server list. Max 64 characters. - Hunter Attacks (
HUNTER_ATTACKS) – 0 = normal attacks, 1 = revenge only, 2 = no attacks.
Changes in the Startup variables tab take effect on the next restart.
Good to know
- Passwords such as
ADMIN_PASSWORDare generated automatically by the portal. They are shown once at the top of the server page – please note them down. - The first start takes longer because the server files are downloaded and set up.
