Here's how to connect to your SuperTuxKart server and adjust the most important settings.
Connecting
- Open the server page in the client area and click Start.
- Wait until the status shows “running”. You can follow the progress in the Console tab.
- Copy the address (IP:Port) at the top of the server page.
- Launch SuperTuxKart and choose Online → enter server address – enter the address there.
Important settings
In the Startup variables tab:
- Server Name (
SERVER_NAME) – The Name of the Server. - Config File Name (
CONFIG_NAME) – Name of the Config File. - Mode (
MODE) – 0 = Normal Race 1 = Time Trial 2 = Battle 3 = Soccer 4 = Follow The Leader 5 = Capture the Flag. - Difficulty (
DIFFICULTY) – Speed of the carts and AI difficulty 0 = Beginner 1 = Intermediate 2 = Expert 3 = SuperTux. - Max Players (
MAX_PLAYERS) – How many players can there be in the server. - Message of the Day (
MOTD) – Message of the Day displayed in the server.
Changes in the Startup variables tab take effect on the next restart.
Good to know
- The first start takes longer because the server files are downloaded and set up.
