The Bus: connect to and set up your server

Here's how to connect to your The Bus server and adjust the most important settings.

Connecting

1. Open the server page in the client area and click Start.
2. Wait until the status shows “running”. You can follow the progress in the Console tab.
3. Copy the address (IP:Port) at the top of the server page.
4. Launch The Bus and connect via the server list or directly with the address. Alternatively add the IP with the query port (Ports tab) in Steam under View → Game servers → Favourites.

Important settings

In the Startup variables tab:

• Admin Password (ADMIN_PASSWORD) – Password to log in as admin on the server.
• Maximum Players (MAX_PLAYERS) – Maximum number of players allowed to join the server.
• Show In Server List (SERVER_LIST) – Should the server be shown in the server list.
• Server Name (SERVER_NAME) – The name of the server.
• Server Password (SERVER_PASSWORD) – Password required to join the server. Leave empty to use no password.

Changes in the Startup variables tab take effect on the next restart.

Good to know

• Passwords such as ADMIN_PASSWORD are generated automatically by the portal. They are shown once at the top of the server page – please note them down.
• The first start takes longer because the server files are downloaded and set up.
