Here's how to connect to your The Front server and adjust the most important settings.

Connecting

  1. Open the server page in the client area and click Start.
  2. Wait until the status shows “running”. You can follow the progress in the Console tab.
  3. Copy the address (IP:Port) at the top of the server page.
  4. Launch The Front and connect via the server list or directly with the address. Alternatively add the IP with the query port (Ports tab) in Steam under View → Game servers → Favourites.

Important settings

In the Startup variables tab:

  • [SERVER] Server Name (SRV_NAME) – no spaces und special signs.
  • [SERVER] Max Players (MAX_PLAYERS) – The max number of players on your server.
  • [SERVER] Server Password (SRV_PW)
  • [SERVER] PvE (GAMEMODE) – off = PvP; on = PvE.
  • [SERVER] Use Steam Socket (STEAMSOCKET) – Use Steam servers for network penetration. Enable this if you don't have a public IP but you want to allow players from outside your network to join your server. If disabled, only you and other players on your LAN can jo.
  • [SERVER] Damage self? (SELFDMG) – Allows players to damage themselves.
  • [SERVER] Damage allies? (DMGALLIES) – Allows squadmates to damage each other.

Changes in the Startup variables tab take effect on the next restart.

Good to know

  • The first start takes longer because the server files are downloaded and set up.
