Urban Terror: connect to and set up your server

Here's how to connect to your Urban Terror server and adjust the most important settings.

Connecting

Open the server page in the client area and click Start.
Wait until the status shows “running”. You can follow the progress in the Console tab.
Copy the address (IP:Port) at the top of the server page.
Open the console in Urban Terror (key ~) and enter /connect IP:Port.

In the Startup variables tab:

Server Hostname (SERVER_NAME) – Put your Servername into here.
Join Message (JOIN_MESSAGE) – The message the player will receive when joining the server.
Max Players (SERVER_MAXCLIENTS) – Maximum players that can connect to the server.
RCON Password (RCON_PASSWORD) – Set the Rcon Password for Admin commands. Can be empty to disable RCON.
Server Password (SERVER_PASSWORD) – If you want to set a password to connect on the server set this here.
Map (SERVER_MAP) – Choose the initial Map the server should start with. (ONLY CHANGE IF YOU KNOW THE MAP IS EXISTING) Server wont start without it!.
Gametype / Gamemode (SERVER_GAMETYPE) – Sets the Gamemode you want to play. 1 = Last Man Standing, 2 = Free For All, 3 = Team DeathMatch, 4 = Team Survivor, 5 = Follow The Leader, 6 = Capture And Hold, 7 = Capture The Flag, 8 = Bomb Mode, 9 = Jump, 10 = Freeze.

Changes in the Startup variables tab take effect on the next restart.

Passwords such as RCON_PASSWORD are generated automatically by the portal. They are shown once at the top of the server page – please note them down.
The first start takes longer because the server files are downloaded and set up.
