On your VPS page, in the Operating system card, you set up the server again with a fresh system.
- Expand Reinstall and choose an operating system under New system (e.g. Debian, Ubuntu, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux or Fedora – the list shows what's currently available).
- Tick the box confirming that all data on the server will be deleted.
- Click Reinstall now.
This takes about a minute. The new root password is then shown under Access.
Warning: this deletes all data on the server. Back up everything you want to keep beforehand, e.g. via SFTP/scp or with the rescue system.
After reinstalling, the server has a new SSH host key. Your SSH client will warn you when connecting – remove the old entry for the IP from known_hosts.
