When we replace one of our server machines, the game servers on it move to new hardware. You'll receive an email “… is moving – please choose a time” and a notice on the server page.
What you can do
On the server page you choose when:
- Move now – the move starts within the next few minutes.
- Tonight (04:00) – if people are playing right now.
- Ask via ticket – if neither suits you.
If you do nothing, we move the server automatically by the stated deadline. The deadline is always at least three days after the announcement. A few days before, we remind you once more by email if you haven't chosen a time yet.
What changes
- World, settings and files come along completely.
- The IP address changes, the port number stays. The new address is shown on the server page afterwards and sent by email – please update favourites, server lists and your community info.
- The server is usually off for 5–30 minutes during the move. If it was running before, we start it again afterwards.
- Backups don't move along. Download important backups under Backups beforehand – after the move you can create a new one right away.
If a move fails, the server stays in its old place and keeps running. You can then choose a new time.
