This guide takes you from your domain to a working website and e-mail address – no prior knowledge needed. You need a domain (your address, e.g. my-clan.com) and a webspace (the storage for your website) or a mail plan.

Step 1: Have a domain and a webspace

  • No domain yet? In the client area under Domains → “Register new domain”, check your desired name and order it.
  • Domain bought elsewhere? Enter it under Domains → “Connect your own domain”. Your current provider then needs to set the nameservers ns1.nexus-servers.de and ns2.nexus-servers.de.
  • Order a webspace in the shop under Webspace. For e-mail only, a mail plan is enough.

Step 2: Connect the domain to the webspace

  1. Open Domains and click your domain.
  2. Switch the view at the top right to Simple.
  3. Under “Website”, click Connect domain to webspace.

Done – we set up the DNS records and the security certificate (https) automatically. It usually takes 5 to 30 minutes until the domain is reachable everywhere. The status on the page shows you when it’s ready.

Step 3: Upload your website

The page of your webspace shows everything you need under “Your website in 3 steps” – with copy buttons. Detailed guide: Webspace: upload your website.

Step 4: Turn on e-mail

  1. On your domain’s page, click Enable e-mail under “E-mail”.
  2. Then create your first mailbox: enter a name (e.g. info) and a secure password.
  3. Read your mail right away in the browser at webmail.nexus-servers.de or in a mail client: Set up a mailbox in your mail client.

Common mistakes – please don’t

  • Don’t add NS records following another provider’s guide. That doesn’t switch providers, it only causes confusion.
  • Don’t change the nameservers if your website and e-mail should run with us – otherwise both stop working.
  • Don’t start fixing things right away if the website doesn’t show up immediately after connecting. It is usually there within 30 minutes.
