Here's how to connect to your ASKA server and adjust the most important settings.
Connecting
- Open the server page in the client area and click Start.
- Wait until the status shows “running”. You can follow the progress in the Console tab.
- Copy the address (IP:Port) at the top of the server page.
- Launch ASKA and connect via the server list or directly with the address. Alternatively add the IP with the query port (Ports tab) in Steam under View → Game servers → Favourites.
Important settings
In the Startup variables tab:
- Display Name (
DISPLAY_NAME) – Display name is the name the session displays in the session list for new saves, for old saves it will take the name from the save itself. - Server Name (
SERVER_NAME) – Override for the host name that is displayed in the session list. if left blank it will use what would normally be used when hosting from this machine. - Server Password (
SERVER_PASSWORD) – The password this session will have. - Server Region (
SERVER_REGION) – The region to open this session on. Possible options: default, asia, japan, europe, south america, south korea, usa east, usa west, australia, canada east, hong kong, india, turkey, united arab emirates, usa south centra. - Game Server Login Token (
STEAM_GSLT) – The token needed to authenticate the game server to the steam network. https://steamcommunity.com/dev/managegameservers and use App ID 1898300. - Keep Server World Alive (
KEEP_SERVER_WORLD_ALIVE) – If set to true when the session is open, the world is also updating, even without players, if set to false, the world loads when the first player joins and the world unloads when the last player leaves.
Changes in the Startup variables tab take effect on the next restart.
Good to know
- ASKA needs your own Steam server token (App ID 1898300): steamcommunity.com/dev/managegameservers – enter it when ordering or later in the startup variables (
STEAM_GSLT). - The first start takes longer because the server files are downloaded and set up.
