Here's how to connect to your Hytale server and adjust the most important settings.
Connecting
- Open the server page in the client area and click Start.
- Wait until the status shows “running”. You can follow the progress in the Console tab.
- Copy the address (IP:Port) at the top of the server page.
- Connect in-game via the multiplayer menu or direct connect using this address.
Important settings
In the Startup variables tab:
- Automatic update (
AUTO_UPDATE) – updates the game files on start. - Server version (
SERVER_VERSION) –latest,previousor a specific version. - World backups (
ENABLE_WORLD_BACKUP) – automatic world backups by the server; interval in minutes viaBACKUP_FREQUENCY. - Allow self-OP (
ALLOW_OP) – players can give themselves operator rights with/op self. - Transport (
TRANSPORT) – network protocol; the default is QUIC (UDP).
Changes in the Startup variables tab take effect on the next restart.
Good to know
- On the first start, watch the messages in the Console tab – if the server asks for a login there, follow the instructions.
- The first start takes longer because the server files are downloaded and set up.
Connect your Hytale account (on first start)
The server must be linked to a Hytale account once. On the first start, a link and a code appear in the Console, e.g. “Or enter code: ABCD1234 at https://accounts.hytale.com/device”. A notice with the Log in now button also appears automatically in the client area.
- Open the link and log in with your Hytale account.
- Confirm the code shown.
- The server then starts as normal.
The code is valid for 10 minutes. Missed it? No problem – the server restarts and shows a new code.
